MEZZO-SOPRANO
Mezzo-soprano Marzia Marzo is a singer of remarkable versatility and elegance who has drawn the attention of both critics and audiences as an interpreter of the Mozart and Rossini repertoire. She graduated with distinction in Vocal Chamber Music in 2013 from the “Tito Schipa” Conservatory in Lecce, her home region, and in July 2012 made her debut as Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro with the I.C.O. Orchestra of Lecce.
She subsequently attended vocal technique masterclasses with Josep Ribot, Margarete Honig, Rudolph Piernay, John Norris, Edith Wiens, Anna Tomowa-Sintow and Brigitte Fassbaender. She is the winner of prestigious international competitions, including: “Valerio Gentile,” Fasano (3rd Prize); “Tommaso Traetta,” Fasano (1st Prize); “Concurs Mirabent y Magrans,” Sitges (1st Prize); “65th European Opera Singing Competition” AsLiCo, Como (Finalist), and Finalist at the Monteverdi Competition in Cremona.
From 2014 to 2016 she was a member of the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, where she debuted several roles, including Zaida (Il Turco in Italia), Annina (La traviata), Isolier (Le Comte Ory), and Nancy (Albert Herring), under the direction of conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Ivor Bolton, Asher Fisch, Oksana Lyniv, Marie Jacquot and Paolo Arrivabeni. In October 2016 she sang at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari in the role of Baroness Aspasia in Rossini’s La pietra del paragone under Maestro Omassini. In September 2017 she made her debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in Il viaggio a Reims as Maddalena under Maestro Sagripanti.
From 2017 to 2023 she was a member of the ensemble of the Mainfranken Theater in Würzburg, where she debuted the roles of Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos), Hansel (Hänsel und Gretel), Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Olga (Eugene Onegin) and Muse/Niklausse (The Tales of Hoffmann). In 2018 she returned as a guest to the Munich Opera Festival to sing the Mezzo Solo in Sciarrino’s Vanitas. In April 2024 she debuted the role of Angelina (Cenerentola) on tour at the Teatro Duse in Bologna and the Teatro Galli in Rimini. Since February 2025 she has been performing as Charlotte (Werther) at the Heidelberg Theater.
In March 2025 she makes her debut as the Second Maid (Elektra) at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona for the opera season of Fondazione Arena.
