ENSEMBLE

mdi ensemble was founded in Milano in 2002. In 2017 it was awarded ‘Una vita nella musica’ (A life in music) prize by Teatro alla Fenice in Venezia, for having pursued ‘with tenacity and tireless study a very precise goal, that is, tackling the production of contemporary music with a strong identity of sound and interpretative style, in the same way as chamber ensembles dedicated to the traditional repertoire’. In the same year, it was awarded the Abbiati Prize. In 2021, it received its second Abbiati Prize, named after Mario Messinis, as the ‘creator’ of numerous works by living composers.  mdi ensemble has distinguished itself for its dedication to contemporary repertoires, which it has approached with analytical discipline and poetic interpretration, identifying in the direct dialogue with the composers performed the key to deciphering very different scores, always cultivating its own sound and interpretative style.
