CONDUCTOR
Massimo Raccanelli conducted Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at Teatro Comunale in Ferrara, where he was invited again in 2024 to conduct Die Zauberflöte. He had conducted Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Teatro Ristori in Verona with Frau Musika Orchestra. He was invited by Georgisches Kammerorchester in Ingolstadt, Orchestra of the Junges Musikpodium Dresden-Venedig, Accademia d’Archi Arrigoni, Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker where he was principal guest conductor from 2013 to 2015. From 2012 to 2014 he was music director of ‘StOrch’ (Studenten Orchester München).
Born in Treviso, Massimo Raccanelli graduated in cello at the Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto and then attended Mario Brunello, Enrico Bronzi and Antonio Meneses masterclasses. As for orchestral conducting, he received a master’s degree from Bruno Weil at the Hochschule München and as an assistant to Bruno Weil he took part in the production of Così fan tutte by Mozart at the Schloss Weikersheim.
Invited by Orquesta Ciudad de Granada he conducted Tchaikovsky’s Symphony n. 5 and Elgar’s Cello Concert with Thomas Demenga as a soloist. He conducted the first performance of Das Große Lächeln by Wilfried Hiller with the Oktopus Ensemble at the Gasteig in München. He conducted La Serva Padrona by Pergolesi for Baroque Experience with the youth ensemble Baroquipe. As an assistant to Bruno Weil, he was invited to conduct some performances of Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Le Nozze di Figaro at the Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland Festival at the Schloss Weikersheim. Since 2022, he has been the music director of the European project Junges Musikpodium Dresden-Venedig.
As a solo cello of the Venice Baroque Orchestra conducted by Andrea Marcon, he took part in various tours in Europe, the United States and Japan. He conducted the Venice Baroque Orchestra, with Xavier de Maistre as a soloist, at the Grafenegg Festival in Wien and at Stiftkonzerte-Sankt Florian in Linz.
In 2018, he replaced Stefano Montanari at the helm of the Junges Musikpodium Dresden-Venedig at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, with Mario Brunello as a soloist. With “I Solisti di Radio Veneto Uno” he conducted Mendelssohn’s Symphony n. 4 and Brahms’ Violin Concert. For the 2019/2020 symphonic season of Teatro Comunale in Treviso he conducted Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Symphony n. 5 and Piano Concert n. 3.
