CONDUCTOR

Massimo Raccanelli conducted Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at Teatro Comunale di Ferrara  in 2023.  On the same year  he was  nominated Artistic Director of the Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta.  Born in Treviso, he graduated in cello at the Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto and then attended    Mario Brunello, Enrico Bronzi and Antonio Meneses master classes  As for orchestral conducting, he received a master’s degree from Bruno Weil at the Hochschule in München.

Solo cello of the Venice Baroque Orchestra conducted by Andrea Marcon, he took part in various tours in Europe, the United States, and Japan; he was assistant to Bruno Weil for the production  of Così fan tutte by Mozart at the Schloss Weikersheim  in 2011.

He was  invited to conduct  the Georgisches Kammerorchester (Ingolstadt), Junges Musikpodium  Dresden-Venedig Orchestra, Accademia d’Archi Arrigoni, and the  Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker where he was Principal Guest Conductor from  2013 to  2015.  He was  Musical Director of the “StOrch” (Studenten Orchester München) from October 2012 to February 2014.

Invited by  the  Orquesta Ciudad de Granada  he conducted Thaikowskij ‘s Symphony n. 5 and Elgar’s Cello Concert  with  Thomas Demenga  as a soloist.  He conducted the first performance of Das Große Lächeln by  Wilfried Hiller  with the  Oktopus Ensemble at the  Gasteig in München . Later, he conducted La Serva Padrona by Pergolesi  at the  Baroque Experience  with the  youth ensemble  Baroquipe.    As an assistant   to   Bruno Weil, he was  invited to  conduct  some performances of Mozart’s  Don Giovanni and  Le Nozze di Figaro  at   the  Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland  Festival  at  the Schloss Weikersheim.   He conducted the  Venice Baroque Orchestra,  with  Xavier de Maistre as a soloist ,  at  the   Grafenegg Festival  in Wien  and  at Stiftkonzerte-Sankt Florian in  Linz.

In 2018, he replaced Stefano Montanari at the helm of the Junges Musikpodium  Dresden-Venedig at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, with Mario Brunello as a soloist.  With “I Solisti di Radio Veneto Uno” he conducted the Symphony n. 4 by Mendelssohn and the Violin Concert by Brahms. For the 2019/2020 symphonic season of the Teatro Comunale di Treviso he conducted the Symphony n. 5 and the Piano Concert n. 3 by Ludwig Van Beethoven.

As a musical assistant to Thomas Hengelbrock, he was invited for the 2020 production of Così fan tutte  at   the Festival International d’ Art Lirique d’Aix-en-Provence.   In 2022, he was appointed music director of the European project Junges Musikpodium Dresden-Venedig.
