Giulio BIDDAU

PIANO

Giulio Biddau, born in Cagliari, studied with Arlette Giangrandi Eggmann and graduated in piano at the Conservatory of his city. He furthered his studies in Paris with Jean-Marc Luisada at the École Normale and later with Aldo Ciccolini and Dominique Merlet. He attended the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin and graduated with distinction from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia with Sergio Perticaroli.
Among the competitions he took part in are the Casagrande in Terni, the Tbilisi International Piano Competition, Iturbi in Valencia, First Prize at the ‘Les Nuits Pianistiques – Lauréats SPEDIDAM’ Competition in Aix-en-Provence .
He was invited by the Radio France Festival in Montpellier, the Pablo Casals Festival and the Festival Piano en Valois, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Festival Dino Ciani in Cortina, Teatro Verdi in Trieste, the Politeama in Palermo; then in France at the Salle Cortot in Paris, at the Grand Theatre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence, in Pontoise, Nancy, Rouffach, Gerberoy in Spain at the Palau de la Musica in Valencia and in Leon, in Germany at the Konzerthaus in Berlin. He got involved in recitals and concerts in Slovenia, the United Kingdom, Austria, Sweden, China (Oriental Art Center in Shanghai and Tsinghua University Auditorium in Beijing), Chile, Australia, and Argentina. In Buenos Aires, he was awarded two prizes in 2018 and 2021 by the Association of Music Critics.
He has played under the direction of Lawrence Foster, François-Xavier Roth, Tan Dun, Damian Iorio, Silvia Massarelli, Filippo Maria Bressan with the Orchestra dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Brandenburgische Staatsorchester Frankfurt, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Orchestra del Palau de la Musica de Valencia, Orchestra del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Milton Keynes City Orchestra, Les Siècles, Sinfonica Siciliana, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Sinfonica Abruzzese, Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra.

He played with mezzo-soprano Monica Bacelli and violinist Anna Tifu.
He recently recorded a CD dedicated to Domenico Scarlatti, proposing a comparison between the Sonatas of the Hans von Bülow edition and their critical version. For the same label, Aparté, he released the intégrale of Fauré’s Barcarole in 2011.
