Allen Boxer began his current season with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, taking on three different roles in the world premiere of Giorgio Battistelli’s Julius Caesar, directed by Robert Carsen. In March, made his house debut in Montpellier as Golaud in Pelléas et Mélisande, before travelling to Metz to perform a set of Schubert Lieder with the composer/pianist Brice Pauset.

Last year’s season saw Allen Boxer take on the role of Hans in the premiere of a rarely performed Zemlinsky work, Der Traumgörge, with Opéra National de Lorraine and Opéra de Dijon, before moving on to Dresden to record Baron Douphol in La traviata, with the Dresdner Philharmonie under the baton of Daniel Oren.

Allen successfully opened 2019-2020 with the role of Robert Baker in Bernstein’s Wonderful Town with the Nederlandse Reisopera and Het Gelders Orkest. After a New Year’s Beethoven 9th in Halle, he went on to create the three-in-one leading role in the world premiere of Strafen with Opéra de Dijon in February. He continues to make regular appearances with the Semperoper Dresden, where last season he joined the casts of Die Zauberflöte, La forza del destino, Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Pelléas et Mélisande and Die Lustige Witwe.

Earlier, Allen covered the lead role in Le pavillon d’Or in Strasbourg and created the lead character, Jake, in the world premiere of Fuck the Facts with the Neuköllner Oper in Berlin. In prior seasons, he appeared in Dresden as the 3. Student von Krakow (Doktor Faust) and debuted Stephen Crowe’s world premiere techno-opera, Pterodactyls of Ptexas, in Berlin. Other European roles include Schaunard (La Bohème), Spencer Coyle (Owen Wingrave), Frank (Die Tote Stadt) and Dr. Grenvil (La traviata).

In addition, he collaborated with pianist Michael Schütze on a Liederabend presented by the Berlin-based Sideman Projekt, a concert presented later in Paris with the Arts Arena.

As a member of Semperoper Dresden’s Junges Ensemble from 2011-2013, Allen sang numerous roles, including Dandini (La cenerentola), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Angelotti (Tosca) and Baron Douphol (La traviata). Allen has appeared as Collatinus (The Rape of Lucretia) with both Castleton Festival and Aldeburgh’s Britten-Pears Programme and participated in the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence’s Académie Européenne de Musique. He also appeared with Chautauqua Opera as Olin Blitch (Susannah).

During his years at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music, he sang diverse roles, including Nick Shadow (The Rake’s Progress), Dulcamara (L’elisir d’amore), Golaud (Pelléas et Mélisande) and the Forester (The Cunning Little Vixen).
