Danbi LEE

MEZZO

Mezzo-soprano Danbi Lee was born in 1995 in South Korea. She began studying singing at ‘Chung-Ang’ University, graduating under the guidance of Prof. Yang Hye-jung in 2017. In 2022, she graduated with top marks and honourable mention from the Conservatorio ‘Arrigo Boito’ in Parma under the guidance of Prof. Donatella Saccardi and Prof. Stefano Giannini. In 2021 she attended the Accademia Verdiana of the Teatro Regio in Parma. In 2022 he studied at the Georg Solti Academy and the Gstaad Vocal Academy. She is currently studying at the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

She has stood out in numerous international competitions. In 2019 she  obtained the first prize at the 9th “Pietro Mongini” international opera singing competition, the second prize at the 35th Valsesia musica international competition and the second prize at the 13th “Magda Olivero” international opera competition, the special prize at the 26th ° International Competition for young opera singers “Riccardo Zandonai” and the 1st prize  of the International Opera Singing Competition “Giuditta Pasta”.    In 2020 she received the special prize at the 8th International Opera Singing Competition “Premio Pausto Ricci”. In 2021 she won the Verdi voice prize at the 4th “San Colombano” International Competition. In 2022 she received a scholarship from the 24th International Competition for Opera Singers “Città di Alcamo”, she was the finalist of the 58th International Competition “Voci Verdiane Città di Busseto”, she won the critics’ prize at the 8th International Competition of Singing “Renata Tebaldi”.

She participated in opera productions: in 2019 she debuted the role of Abbess in Suor Angelica by Giacomo Puccini at the Crystal Theatre in Collecchio, and in 2020 she revived the same role at the Parma Lirica. In 2022, she was Flora in La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi at the Crystal Theatre in Collecchio, and sang the role of Portia from Shylock by Aldo Finzi , first performance at  the Maffeiana Hall of  Teatro Filarmonico in Verona.
