Luca Tittoto is one of the most accomplished and sought-after basses of his generation, especially appreciated in the “baroque”, Mozart and “belcanto” repertoire. In 2024, he was invited twice at La Scala: in the part of Gessler in Rossini’s Guillaume Tell, conducted by Michele Mariotti, and then as Gelone in Cesti’s Orontea, conducted by Giovanni Antonini, production by Robert Carsen, achieving personal success with public and critics.

He sang Achilla in Händel’s Giulio Cesare at the Glyndebourne Festival, made his debut at the Berlin Staatsoper in Peters Sellars’ production of Charpentier’s Medée, conductor Sir Simon Rattle. He was at Teatro Massimo in Palermo for Rossini’s Stabat Mater, in Modena for Bellini’s I puritani,  in Venezia he sang Astolfo in Vivaldi’s Orlando Furioso.

In the 2022-23 season, he sang the title role in Händel’s Saul at the Komische Oper in Berlin, Procida in Vespri siciliani in Palermo, directed by Emma Dante and conducted by Omar Meir Wellber, Gluck’s Alceste in Roma Teatro dell’Opera conducted by Gianluca Capuano, Enrico VIII in Bastarda, a two-evening project from Donizetti’s Tudor operas, conducted by Francesco Lanzillotta, production by Olivier Fredij. At the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam he sang Vivaldi’s La Fida Ninfa and he made his debut at Teatro Real in Madrid in Händel’s Alcina. His recent engagements include Giove in La Calisto at Teatro alla Scala, conducted by Christophe Rousset, production by McVicar, Nabucco and Lucia di Lammermoor at Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Carmen and Monteverdi’s Orfeo at Teatro Regio in Torino, Rodelinda at Amsterdam Opera, Colline in La Bohème at Royal Opera House Covent Garden, I puritani in Modena and Reggio Emilia, Così fan tutte at Oslo Opera. He sang in Norma (Oroveso) in Palermo and Venezia, Mustafà in Italiana in Algeri in Palermo, Così fan tutte and La Calisto in Münich, the modern première of Enrico di Borgogna and La creazione del mondo at the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo. He  sang La Calisto and Alcina in Madrid, and Mozart’s Requiem directed by Romeo Castellucci at the Aix-en-Provence Festival revived at La Monnaie in Bruxelles and Valencia, Cavalli’s Ercole Amante at  Opéra Comique in Paris, recorded on DVD for Naxos, Guillaume Tell in Münich. In Parma he sang Händel’s Messiah with Enrico Onofri, Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Basilio) and Ferrando in Il Trovatore at Teatro Comunale in Bologna.

In Münich he sang the part of Jupiter in Cavalli’s La Calisto several times, conducted by Ivor Bolton,  in concert way he took part in the première of Caldara’s La Concordia dei Pianeti at the Konzertsaal in Dortmund and then in Wien, with La Cetra conducted by Andrea Marcon, recorded on CD for Deutsche Grammophon. He sang Gessler in Rossini’s Guillaume Tell at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and in Bologna (original version) production by Graham Vick and again in Torino and at the Edinburgh Festival conducted by Gianandrea Noseda. At Aix-en-Provence he was a very appreciated King of Scotland in Richard Jones’ production of Händel’s Ariodante conducted by Andrea Marcon, revived in January 2016 in Amsterdam. He sang Bach’s Mass in B Minor at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, Créon in Charpentier’s Medée in Basel, Mozart’s Requiem at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Roma,  Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte at La Fenice in Venezia and at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Alidoro in Rossini’s Cenerentola at Teatro di San Carlo in Napoli and at Teatro Comunale in Bologna.

Luca Tittoto sang at the Salzburg Festival and Mozart Weeks with Les Musiciens du Louvre and Marc Minkowski. He sang Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9, conducted by Myung-Whun Chung, and by Lorin Maazel at La Fenice in Venezia. At Maggio Musicale Fiorentino he sang J. S. Bach’s Matthäus-Passion, conducted by Fabio Biondi, Alcina in Paris (Théâtre des Champs Elysées) and in London (Barbican), conductor Marc Minkowski. At the Concergebouw in Amsterdam, he sang Vivaldi’s Senna Festeggiante, with the Orchestra Barocca di Venezia and Andrea Marcon. His repertoire includes all the major parts in oratorio and sacred music from Bach to Verdi. Luca Tittoto has recorded  for DG, ERATO, NAIVE, HARMONIA MUNDI, NAXOS.
