Flavio Cucchi started his studies in Firenze and gave his first concerts when he was 8. During high school he experimented different musical genres and worked with various avant-garde groups and folk music artists. He recorded for RCA and Fonit Cetra. Then he returned to classical music and graduated with honours from the Cherubini Conservatory in Firenze with Alvaro Company and then studied with Oscar Ghiglia at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.
Invited to major international festivals in America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, he appeared in radio and television broadcasts of the leading broadcasters, including BBC, RAI, ZDF and Bayerischer Rundfunk, Televisa Mexico, All India Radio, Television Corporation of Singapore.

He held recital concerts and concerts with orchestra at Teatro alla Scala in Milano, Teatro Comunale in Firenze, Teatro Regio in Torino, Teatro Regio in Parma, as well as several major European halls.
He performed the world premiere of Petrassi’s Sestina d’Autunno and took part in numerous productions by Berio, Henze, Boulez and Bussotti.
Many composers have dedicated their works to him: one of them is Chick Corea, who stated to a US magazine: ‘Ever since I first heard Flavio play the guitar, I’ve been a big fan. His playing is simply filled with beauty.’
Flavio Cucchi collaborated with theatre and literary artists such as Carmelo Bene, with whom he held a recital at Palazzetto dello Sport in Milano, and the American poet Yusef Komunyakaa, Pulitzer Prize for poetry, who dedicated his Ode to the Guitar to him.
He holds masterclasses in USA, Japan, China, Mexico, Russia, Sweden, and Singapore.
He has over 20 record releases and numerous digital albums to his credit (200 tracks on Internet platforms).
