Italy-Poland mezzo-soprano Katarzyna Otczyk graduated in opera singing at the Università Musicale F. Chopin of Warsaw in 2009, attending Anna Radziejewska’s class. She studied for a while at Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Roma with the european Erasmus programme and in 2012 she was part of the Opera Studio of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia. During her formative years she attended mastercalsses by Teresa Berganza, Renato Bruson, Renata Scotto, Sara Mingardo, Anna Vandi, Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz, Jadwiga Rappé.
In season 2008/09 Katarzyna Otczyc made her debut, with the role of Lucinda in L’Amante di Tutte by Galuppi at Warsaw Chamber Opera which was followed by Bianca in The Rape of Lucretia by Britten at Baltic Opera in Danzica. Between 2010 and 2015 she sang Maddalena in Rigoletto (Gubbio), Suzuki in Madama Butterfly (Spoleto), Flora in Traviata (Spoleto, Perugia, Roma, Zita in Gianni Schicchi (Spoleto), Adalberto in Adelaide di Borgognona by Pietro Generali (Rovigo, opera recorded by Bongiovanni record company), Alfred Alfred by Donatoni, Pipa and Barlafuso by Caldara, Bacocco and Serpilla by Orlandini (Spoleto), Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell (Warsaw), Coscienza in Opera Migrante by Gregoretti (Spoleto, Roma).

In 2017 she sang in Medeamaterial by Pascal Dusapin at Teatro Comunale of Bologna, conducted by Marco Angius.

She performed several work in the vocal and sacred symphonic repertoire: Gloria by Vivaldi, Resurrezione by Haendel, Messe by Mozart, Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini etc. She gained significant experience in the contemporary music field with scores by Luigi Nono, Risonante Erranti (Parma, Traiettorie 2014, Ex Novo Musica Venezia 2015, Padova Festival SaMPL) and Prometeo (Parma, Teatro farnese, 2017); Sciarrino, Infinito Nero (Parma, Traiettorie 2015); Sinopoli Souvenirs à la mémoire (Biennale Musica 2015); Lucio Gregoretti Migranti – Andante alla Belga (Roma Sinfonietta 2017).

Katarzyna Otczyk won the 65th edition of the Concorso per Giovani Cantanti Lirici Comunità Europea 2011 of Spoleto. Was awarded with Tird Prize of the Valentino Bucchi Prize 2010 and Tird prize at VIII Concorso Internazionale di Canto Barocco F. Provenzale in Napoli in 2011. Finalist and winner of special prize “Provincia di Roma” at Concorso Internazionale “Musica Sacra 2011” in Roma. Finalist, graduated and scholarship holder of the Foro Musicale dei Giovani del Foro Austriaco della Cultura in Varsavia in 2007. Winner of the special prize for the best performance of Chopin’s songs for the Accademia Estiva del Canto in Danzica in 2010.
