VENETHOS ENSEMBLE

QUARTET

VenEthos Ensemble was founded by Giacomo Catana, Mauro Spinazzè, violins, Francesco Lovato, viola,  Massimo Raccanelli, cello, four musicians linked not only by a deep friendship but also by a common desire to propose a new interpretation – on period instruments – of the  18th and 19th centuries  repertoire  for quartet  .

The name refers  to the land of origin of the four members and, more specifically, to the great Venetian string tradition from which the musicians come from, which gives the group a strong stylistic identity, as well as  to the ‘Ethos’ of Greek philosophy, according to which music affects people’s psyche and emotions.

In August 2024, they were invited by the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Lübeck for two concerts; in September 2023 they played quartets by Boccherini , Mozart and Haydn at the Haydn Festival at the Eszterhaza Castle ; they were invited by the Italian radio RAI to celebrate the day of early music , for the Concerts at the Quirinale in Rome  they played the quartets of the young Mozart .  They opened the concert season of the Municipal Theater of Belluno, they were invited by  music associations of Venezia, Mestre,Vicenza, and Verona .     They recorded their first CD Mozart: The Milanese Quartets – Lodi Quartet , published by Arcana-Outhere Music in January 2022  awarded  with Découverte prize by Diapason magazine.

The members of the ensemble have gained their professional and musical experience alongside  such  musicians as I Sonatori de la gioiosa Marca, L. Van Dael, H. Kurosaki, H. Beyerle, B. Weil, H. Muller, J. Meissl, Il Quartetto di Cremona, improving  their studies  of the chamber music repertoire and performance practice of  baroque and classical  works.
